New Zealand (2014-2016)
Little Lavender farm at Wellington
Compared to other farms Araceli Farms, Lavender Fields in USA or Lavender fields Provence at France, this is "Lavender Creek Farm" in New Zealand is relatively small!
However, I did not expect I would see this in Wellington. It was called Lavender Creek Farm, located at Kapiti Coast, Wellington. If I remember well, it is fully bloomed in March. Rather small, but enough to tell a story how lavender flower can produce many other products, ranging from oil, soap, lotion, face cream, hand scrub and body butter, candle and other cosmetics. There is a showroom of how oil can be infused.
It was a great memory. If anyone in Wellington, they can take a quick visit there.
Spotting the differences
I started to record things I haven't seen before when I was in New Zealand. Things like windsurfing, lighthouses, wind turbines, family outdoor yacht, fishing as hobbies, families picnic, join the sport events.. really attracted me. They are not common to me!
This photo was taken during my road trip to Porirua, Wellington, New Zealand. On summer and a sunny day, locals come out for picnic, gathering and plays in the park. People who love fishing would have fishing gears in their cars. After work or studies, they would just go to the waterfront and fish while talking with others. What a life!
Riding on the beach!
I love this!
Free ride on 90 Mile Beach, just loving them!
Wind turbine @New Zealand
Another thing impressed me in New Zealand is the wind turbine that they installed on the mountain in Wellington. Wellington is known as a very windy town and so this renewable energy source is fitted. According to Wind Energy Association of New Zealand, the wind farms supply around 6% annual electricity generation to New Zealand and 17 wind farms are operating throughout New Zealand. Makara wind farm in Wellington can be accessed and visited. This photo is from Brooklyn. The third time I came to this area, they were removing it as they said it had been there 20 years, so it is time they fix and check it.
Getting upclosed to lighthouses in New Zealand
Since New Zealand is surrounded by the sea, it is common that you can see lighthouses. I am not talking about its functions, how these lighthouses work but as a visitor, I am very fascinated to see closer ones by myself.
According to Maritime New Zealand, there are 23 lighthouses and 75 lightbeacons around New Zealand. It is nice as visitors could also access those places and enjoy the view.
These are names of lighthouses people can visit:
- Castle Point
- Cape Reinga
- Tiritiri Matangi Island
- East Cape
- Cape Palliser
- Pencarrow Head
- Somes Island
- Nelson Boulder Bank
- Akaroa Head
- Katiki Point
- Nugget Point
- Waipapa Point
- Farewell Spit
- Cape Egmont
- Cape Foulwind
What are your experiences with the lighthouses?
A frame of love
This frame is located at Long Bay, Auckland, New Zealand. Why would I call it a frame of love? Because I saw many couples took photos in this frame while they go play at the beach. It is about 30km from Auckland city. I really miss this place!
