Palm sweet, popular sweet among Cambodians
On weekends, my sister often cooks dessert and sweet while I love cooking complicated dishes.
This weekend, we came up with palm fruit dessert. It is common for local people as palm trees are available almost everywhere. However, when you go to the weeding reception you will see they serve this dessert sometimes only and it
becomes very valuable.
Ingredients
- Palm fruits, 30-40 fruits
- Tapioca (long and round, 2-3tbs) [In most case, they use sticky rice together with palm fruits, they have to soak sticky rice in the water for 10-15mns]
- Palm sugar (2-3tbs/0.4kg)
- Condensed milk (1-2tbs)
- Coconut cream (2-3tbs)
- Salt (0.5tbs)
Preparation and cooking
- Peel off the skin, clean and cut into small pieces (2-3 pieces per fruit)
- Soak tapioca for 5-10mns, then rinse it and keep aside
- Put palm sugar in the port and water (1Liter), put on the stove with medium heat, then add salt and coconut cream.
- Add palm fruits, tapioca and condensed milk.
- Check if they are sweet enough. Then, take the pot off the stove
- It is ready to eat, take it in small bowl, keep for a bit colder and can be eaten now!
You can have them while they are still hot while some other put them in the refrigerator first.
