Rumduol (រំដួល), national flower of Cambodia
រំដួល read as Rumduol or White Cheesewood [Sphaerocoryne affinis /Rumduol, Melodorum fruticosum] is a national flower of Cambodia while Palm tree is a national plant. It was listed on 21 March 2005. It has a very pleasant fragrant and it has long been in Cambodia. Carving on Angkor Wat and Banteay Srei temple also show that Apsaras, Devine wore them together with hairstyle. It is actually a medical plants and its fruits are edible too.
Nature of the plants
- Grow in semi rainforest and mountain area, you will see a lot around Angkor Archeological Park.
- Big trees: 3-15m heights
- Flower season: between December - March (Now see it everywhere!!)
- លំដាប់ Magnoliales អំបូរ Annonaceae ពពួក Mitrella &ប្រភេទ M.mesnyi
